Herring Dip
  • 1 (8 oz) jar herring in wine sauce
  • ½ C. mayonnaise
  • 1 C. sour cream
  • 1 t. sugar
  • 1 T. lemon juice
  • ½ t. celery seed
  • 1 med green pepper, chopped
  • 6 chopped green onions
Drain liquid from herring. Remove onion and seeds and discard. Cut the herring into small chunks. Mix with remaining ingredients. Refrigerate at least 24 hours before using. Serve with crackers or party rye bread. Keeps well. Yield: 1 ½ Cups.
